In December 2001, the Habersham County Commissioners passed a resolution and the Habersham County Wall of Honor, Inc. was formed. A committee made up of veterans and patriots began working diligently. The late Ken Palmer was the initiator and organizer of this committee. He compiled over 5,000 names of Habersham County Veterans before his death.
The Habersham County Wall of Honor will be for all veterans of Habersham County; all current residents, native residents and residents at their time of service will be included. The names will include all veterans serving during war and peacetime for all wars and conflicts from The Revolutionary War to the present.
Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson Company, has graciously donated a tract of land adjoining the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce. We are grateful for their kind contribution to the veterans of the county. The total cost of the Wall of Honor is estimated to be around $200,000. This estimate includes land preparation, erection of the Wall of Honor, and beautification landscaping. The committee has also received over $20,000 in m
